On the day I was supposed to be the maid of honor for my best friend, I was sexually assaulted in the name of a "wedding prank." In a deliberately darkened hotel room, my dress was dragged up over my chest while four pairs of hands roamed across my skin. Vile, drunken laughter echoed all around me. Afterward, those men simply plastered innocent, sheepish grins on their faces. With a casual "We were just joking around, bro," everyone readily gave them a pass. I wanted to call 911, but every single person stepped in to stop me. My best friend broke down in tears, begging me not to ruin her big day. My parents, terrified of local gossip and family reputation, forced me to drop it. Even the boyfriend I loved more than anyone secretly whispered behind my back: "Honestly, after what happened... Chloe just feels dirty." In the end, he forged my signature on a settlement agreement. Traumatized and numb, I wandered into the street and was crushed by a speeding truck. Then, I opened my eyes. I had reborn—right before the nightmare began. So this time, when my so-called best friend tried to lure me into that very room, I just gave her a sweet smile. "Rachel, Tyler just told me he’s waiting for you in that room. You really shouldn't keep him waiting." "Chloe, make sure you guard my ring. I'm going to check things in the back." Rachel’s face zoomed in right in front of mine. Out of pure reflex, I took the velvet box, my mind spinning into a haze. In a panic, I patted down my body. No shattered bones. No searing agony. No torn flesh. Just smooth, unblemished skin. After checking three times, reality hit me. I had come back. My hands began to tremble. A surge of raw adrenaline nearly made me drop the box. "You better hold onto Rachel's ring tight," Mrs. Miller’s shrill voice cut in. "That ring is worth tens of thousands of dollars. If it goes missing, you're paying for every single cent." Watching Rachel avoid my eyes—just like she did in my past life—everything clicked. She never considered me a best friend. From day one, I was nothing more than someone she could use. In my last life, I threw away an interview with my dream Ivy League PhD advisor just to be her maid of honor. Back then, I naively thought a career milestone couldn't compare to ten years of sisterhood. Even though it broke my heart, I showed up for her. And how did Rachel repay me? She loudly complained in front of the bridal party that my cash gift wasn't generous enough, mocking me behind my back for being cheap. Her mother backed her up, declaring I'd be held financially liable if the ring went missing, subtly humiliating me as poor. To keep the peace, I swallowed my pride. I just smiled through the awkwardness. They kept pushing my boundaries, testing how much dirt I would eat, until they finally locked me inside that dark room. The catcalls and guttural laughter of those groomsmen still echoed in my nightmares. A rough hand clamped over my mouth, muffling my desperate sobs, which only seemed to turn them on more. They pinned my limbs to the mattress, tore my dress up to my neck, and paws grovelled greedily over my skin. When I tried to fight, a violent slap shattered my resistance. My vision went dark and spinning. I couldn't even think. Seeing that I was paralyzed, they grew bolder, brutally defiling my body. In the darkness, the heavy breathing grew ragged. The distinct metallic clink of a belt buckle being unfastened plunged me into total despair. I shivered violently, cold to the core, praying silently for anyone to kick the door down. Suddenly, the lights flicked on. The men froze and turned toward the doorway. It was Ethan, my childhood cousin. Seeing another man enter, they didn't even flinch. They casually let go of me, stood up, and laughed as if greeting a buddy at a sports bar. The one whose pants were already half off smiled with sickening warmth, entirely unbothered that he had just been caught committing a felony. They claimed it was just a joke. A joke? Stripping a woman naked is a joke? Groping her bruised body is a joke? Unbuckling your pants to violate her is a joke? If it was just a joke, would they pull this crap on their own mothers or sisters? No. They wouldn't. It was never a joke. They simply used "a harmless prank" as cover to unleash their sickest predatory urges. They knew damn well it was a crime. But they also knew that under the sanctity of a wedding, weaponizing a woman's shame, nobody would ever hold them accountable. After all, they didn't technically "finish." Too bad for them. I wasn't going to stay quiet. I didn't care about whispered rumors, ruined reputations, or judgmental glares. I wanted justice. So, battered and half-naked, trembling on weak legs, I bolted toward the lobby to dial 911. Yet the people around me physically held me back. My "best friend" squeezed my hand, weeping hysterically and begging me not to ruin her special day. All while her mother stood by, whispering that I must have provoked them or dressed provocatively. My own parents forcibly tackled me into a chair, screaming that I was destroying our family's dignity and dragging our name through the mud. Never mind that I was once their star daughter, on the verge of pursuing a doctorate. Even Ethan—the cousin who had just pulled them off me, the boy who used to shield me from street bullies when we were kids—shrank under their menacing glares. He muttered under his breath, "Chloe... maybe they just had too much to drink. Just let it go, okay?" Looking at the four groomsmen standing relaxed and smug across the room, an icy chill gripped my soul. Of course. The boys' club protects its own. So who was ever going to stand up for me?The agonizing memories of that past life were unbearable. So when Rachel tried to guilt-trip me in the name of our "friendship" once again, I struck back without missing a beat: "Oh, wow, that expensive? Then I definitely shouldn't touch it. How could someone like me possibly be trusted with a ring worth tens of thousands? A luxury item like this belongs in the hands of someone as sophisticated as you, Mrs. Miller." Without giving them room to argue, I shoved the box directly into Rachel’s mother's hands. Ignoring their souring expressions, I spun around and walked away. Behind me, Mrs. Miller hissed a venomous curse, and Rachel meekly chimed in. "Look at the maid of honor you picked! Useless. Cut ties with her the second the reception is over. Keep your own damn ring; don't give it to me." "Okay, Mom, please don't be mad. I'll listen to you." I slipped out of my bridesmaid gown, slipped into an empty back lounge, locked the door, and took deep breaths to map out my next move. In this life, I would never let that nightmare touch me again. Then, from the adjoining lounge, voices floated through the vent—voices I could never forget if I lived a thousand lifetimes. "Damn, that maid of honor is smoking hot. Great curves, gorgeous face. Total package." "Heard she's working on a master’s degree too. Got that classy vibe." "Tyler, you lucky bastard. They say the bride's best friend is always the real prize. You hit the jackpot." The sickening memories rushed back. Hearing their predatory, satisfied chuckles made my muscles stiffen, my nails biting into my palms until they bled. The foul implications in their words made my stomach churn. "Well, if you guys like her that much, go take her for a spin," Tyler Brooks’s careless voice drawled. He paused, then added with a smirk, "A perk like that? Go ahead and get a taste." "Wait, what? Tyler, are you serious?" "Bro, you are the realest friend ever!" "Even if you're down, Rachel's never gonna let that slide, right? Rachel?" Rachel? She was in the room? Right in front of her face, these pigs were treating her husband and her best friend like cheap bargaining chips, and she didn't say a damn word? Even knowing she valued utility over loyalty, my blood ran totally cold. As I held my breath, waiting for her to lash out, Rachel's voice drifted over—hesitant, timid, and utterly submissive. "I... I always listen to Tyler." Instantly, the room erupted into raucous, repulsive laughter. "Rachel is a keeper! Why don't you do us a solid, Rachel? Tell her to go wait in Room 602 in the back. Don't worry, we're just gonna have a little... 'heart-to-heart' with her." The raw lust dripping from their tones wasn't even disguised. My whole body shook. My chest tightened until I couldn't breathe. How I wished Rachel had retained a shred of human decency and snapped back: Don't test me. Or at least: Chloe is my sister. Back the hell off. None of that happened. Just endless, suffocating silence. A moment later, she murmured, "Okay." My heart froze into solid ice. The trauma that destroyed my previous life was never an accident. It was a cold-blooded sacrifice orchestrated by my so-called best friend. She preyed on my gentle nature, feeding me to wolves just to please her husband and his sleazy circle. What a pathetic joke of a friendship! And what a fool I was in my past life to spare a single thought for her! Any thought of quietly dodging the trap and slipping away dissolved. A wild, searing fury erupted in my chest. I was going to make them pay. Why should loyalty be trampled while selfishness gets rewarded? Why does family pride matter more than a daughter’s soul? Why must the victim suffer a lifetime of whispers and shame, while the perpetrators walk away clean just because they're men? Why did I have to bleed out on the asphalt while the monsters who pushed me there lived in luxury? Why?! I refuse to accept it! I want blood for blood! Forcing my trembling muscles steady, I walked down the hall to the designated suite. Calmly and swiftly, I swapped the brass door numbers between Room 602 and Room 608. Sure enough, Rachel came scurrying up, feeding me the exact same line from my past life, asking me to grab something from Room 602. I nodded with complete docility. Then, flashing her that familiar conspiratorial grin I used to wear when playing wingwoman for her in college, I whispered: "Tyler said he has a surprise for you in Room 608. Don't keep him waiting, girl." Watching Rachel blush and hurry down the corridor, a chilling smile curled on my lips. When the disaster you casually wished upon someone else lands squarely on your own head, Rachel... let’s see if you stay so quietly obedient."Ahhh! Help! Chloe, help me! Someone help!" Not even ten minutes later, Rachel came stumbling down the hallway, her gown torn, hair a wild mess. She gripped my arm like a drowning animal. "They... they touched me... Help me, oh god..." Her mascara was running down her face in black streaks, her makeup a smeared, grotesque mask. Inside, I felt nothing but cold contempt. On the outside, I gasped in utter shock. "Rachel! What happened?! You're scaring me!" "What the hell is wrong with you? Get back inside! Stop making a scene!" Tyler rushed over, his breathing ragged, his lips oddly flushed. He grabbed Rachel's wrist, violently yanking her back toward the hallway. "Tyler, your friends... they violated me... I don't want to live anymore!" Rachel collapsed into Tyler's chest, sobbing hysterically. Tyler threw a forced, apologetic smile at the gathering guests, acting like his bride was just having an embarrassing emotional breakdown. Seeing Tyler trying to drag her out of public view, Rachel panicked, thrashing like a maniac. "Mom! Dad! Help me! They're trying to destroy me! Help... Chloe, do something, please!" "What are you talking about?" I said loudly, holding her firmly. "Your own husband wouldn't hurt you! Don't talk nonsense, let's get you inside." Ignoring her terrified eyes, I locked my grip on her and steered her right back into Room 608—their chosen slaughterhouse. Or rather, Room 602, the room they had prepared for me, now worn by Rachel. The suite was tense. The four groomsmen were there. And so was Ethan—who, just like in my previous life, had walked in just in time to break it up. "Who did this to my baby?!" Mrs. Miller stormed in like a hurricane. She wrapped her arms around the trembling Rachel, glared around the room, and immediately locked her vicious eyes onto me. "What kind of maid of honor are you?! Your only job was to take care of my daughter! You couldn't even do that? You useless little bitch!" Her twisted logic almost made me burst out laughing. Am I your family's personal maid? Am I responsible for babysitting a grown woman older than me? "I don't know, Mrs. Miller," I replied innocently. "Rachel just ran out crying, saying those guys took advantage of her. Shouldn't you ask the groom what happened?" Mrs. Miller choked on her words. Hearing the reminder of what had transpired, Rachel lost it completely, clawing blindly at anyone nearby. She screamed for her mother to get justice, but turned meek and pathetic the moment she looked at Tyler. "Tyler... your friends... oh god... I want to die..." Seeing her clutching Tyler’s sleeve while carefully avoiding any move toward the balcony, I quietly kicked open the suite door and screamed toward the crowded hallway: "Oh my god! Rachel, the groomsmen assaulted you?! How could they?!" In a heartbeat, everyone inside and outside the room froze. Dozens of guests swarmed the doorway, whispering, filming, pointing fingers. "Wait, the bride got felt up by the groomsmen? That's awful..." "Well, look at how low-cut her dress is. She was basically asking for it." "Shameless..." Rachel’s face went ghost-white. She swayed, nearly collapsing. I watched coldly. Just as expected, the crowd immediately blamed the woman for not "protecting herself," while offering instant leniency to the predatory men. Human nature never changes. The very people who victim-blamed me in my past life were now hurling the exact same verbal stones at Rachel. So, Rachel, are you going to fight back? Are you going to press charges against the real monsters? Don't disappoint me now. "No! It wasn't me! It's Chloe! She told me to go into that room! It's all her fault!" Rachel shrieked. Instantly, dozens of condemning glares snapped toward me. Tsk. How utterly pathetic.Rachel didn't dare glare at the men who actually touched her. Instead, she stared at me with murderous venom, as if I were the one who stripped her and dragged hands over her skin. Cowards always punch down. "What are you even saying, Rachel?" I countered, my voice laced with hurt and confusion. "Your husband literally told me to send you to that room. How on earth is this my fault?" I turned my eyes directly onto Tyler. "Tyler, you ran into me right outside the restroom and explicitly told me to tell Rachel to go to that room, didn't you?" I put heavy emphasis on the word restroom, and Tyler’s face instantly drained of color. Because right before that, he had been in that very restroom, hooking up with his ex-girlfriend. In my past life, I discovered his little affair, but wanting Rachel to be happy, I kept my mouth shut. In this life, it was a weapon. I wanted to see whether this "loving husband" she worshiped would fight for his ruined bride, or scramble to cover up his own filthy tracks. I was eager to find out. The crowd's eyes shifted from me to Tyler. Beads of sweat broke out across his forehead. After a suffocating silence, under Rachel's desperate, pleading gaze, Tyler finally let out a shaky breath. "Yeah... I told Chloe to send Rachel there." He hung his head, putting on a show of remorse. "I... I just wanted to surprise her with a gift. It's all my fault." What a noble man. With one sentence, he washed his hands clean and framed everything as a tragic romantic misunderstanding. Rachel’s face fell, the hope shattering in her eyes. She buried her face in her hands, weeping, while the smile she lost bloomed across mine. I had to bite the inside of my cheek to keep from laughing out loud. Look at them: one willing to sacrifice her best friend to appease predators, the other willing to let his wife be assaulted just to protect his own skin. A match made in hell. "Rachel, look, I'll make them apologize to you," Tyler coaxed softly. "I'll make sure they compensate you. Can we please just let this go?" At that cue, the four groomsmen put on awkward, greasy smiles, chiming in loudly: "Yeah, Rachel, we were just messing around! Don't take it so seriously." "It was just a wedding prank, bro. Women are always making mountains out of molehills." "A joke?! What part of this is a joke?!" The word broke whatever sanity Rachel had left. She lunged forward like a rabid animal, clawing at their faces. "Tearing off my clothes is a joke?! Touching me and kissing me is a joke?! That's sexual assault! You're a bunch of rapists!" "I'm going to sue you! I'm calling the police!" Hearing that they had kissed and touched her, Tyler’s expression flashed with visible disgust. He pulled his hands away from her, merely shouting empty words to calm her down. Complete chaos erupted. What a glorious civil war. By the fourth time Rachel’s nails drew bloody gouges across a groomsman's cheek, Tyler tackled her by the waist and roared: "Enough! I'll transfer the deed to that downtown commercial property into your name! Stop making a damn scene! Haven't we lost enough face?!" Rachel froze. The words commercial property cut through her hysterics like a tranquilizer. Tyler stroked her hair, his voice dripping with honeyed poison and hidden revulsion. "Just be a good girl and stop screaming. I'll buy you whatever you want. Be good, okay?" A heavy silence pressed down on the room, shifting all the burden onto Rachel. After what felt like an eternity, she whispered, "Okay. Whatever you say, Tyler." She folded. For a commercial storefront, and to secure her spot as a wealthy socialite, she traded her dignity without a second thought. Utterly disappointing. In my past life, I was strangled by family ties, betrayed by friendship, and murdered by love. After my death, my relatives breathed a sigh of relief that the scandal was buried; my friend quietly gloated that her wedding was saved; my lover moved on to a life of luxury. Only I remained—branded as damaged goods, slandered even in my grave. Why? Why did their greed, their outdated morals, and their selfish desires have to be paid for with my innocent life? Why do the kind get framed while the monsters walk free? I refuse to let it go. Now that the curtain is up on their pathetic little play, how could I ever let it end so quickly? I won't allow it. I want blood. "Which one of you is Rachel Miller? We received a 911 call reporting an ongoing sexual assault. Step aside, please." The stern voice of the police officers cut through the room like a bomb, setting the crowd of onlookers ablaze with excitement. Tyler snapped, glaring at Rachel. "You crazy bitch! I told you I was giving you the storefront! You still called the cops?!" "No, no! Tyler, it wasn't me! I swear I didn't call!" "Get out of my sight. The wedding is off." "No, Tyler, please!" "I called," I stepped forward, my voice calm, my eyes radiating freezing mockery. "Rachel, you're my best friend. How could I just stand by and watch you be abused? Don't worry. The police will make sure justice is served." Watching Rachel's face turn the color of ash and Tyler trembling in absolute rage, a slow, genuine smile spread across my face. The justice I was denied in my last life... I'm gifting it all to you, my dearest friend.

Rachel didn't dare glare at the men who actually touched her.
