I woke up in the hospital. My throat was dry and burning, rendering me ill at ease. I looked around the ward and saw no one, so I had to reach for the water on the table myself. At this moment, a nurse pushed the door open and came in. Seeing that I was awake, she quickly came over and helped me up. "Mrs. Lawson, you're awake. Mr. Lawson is next door now." She glanced at me cautiously and asked, "Do you need me to call him over?" Today, Alana Ward and I fell into the water at the same time. Easton chose to swim towards her without hesitation. I fell into the deep water in desperation. I endured the pain and said with a dry throat at the thought of this, "No need." After the nurse helped me finish the drip, she left the ward. I closed my eyes. The scenes of what had happened today kept replaying in my mind. Today was Easton's birthday. He had a birthday party on a luxury cruise ship. As his wife, I naturally showed up with him. When he appeared holding my hands, he seemed distracted, constantly searching the crowd with his eyes. It wasn't until he gazed at a corner that he smiled. I followed his gaze and saw a girl in a white dress, who was looking back at him from across the crowd. It was Alana, Easton's childhood sweetheart. After accompanying him through the ceremony, I left him. I didn't like crowded places, so I went back to my room. Upon opening the door, I saw Easton sitting on the edge of the bed. He seemed to have been waiting for me for a while. I asked in confusion, "Why are you back?" Easton's eyes were clear and bright, rendering him obedient and cute. Instead of answering, he asked, "Do you have a gift for my birthday?" I held my breath, thinking, "It happens again." He stared at me directly, making my face flush. I turned around and took out an exquisite gift box from my bag. He took it with both hands affectionately as if he had found a treasure. Easton slowly opened the gift box, revealing a delicate blue sapphire button inside. He planted a kiss on my cheek excitedly, unable to hide his joy. Then he said, "Thank you, Giana. You're so good!' After speaking, he coughed lightly and said reluctantly, "Giana, I can't accompany you anymore." Many people were waiting for him, the protagonist, outside. I nodded. After he left, I was about to rest for a while. Then I noticed a cell phone on the bed. It must have been left behind by Easton. I picked up the cell phone and went after him to give it back to him. He walked so fast that I couldn't find him nearby. Finally, I saw him embracing Alana on a deck. I paused, and my heart was in pain. I couldn't catch my breath. After hesitating for a while, I decided to approach them. "Easton." Seeing me coming, Alana hurriedly withdrew from Easton's embrace. Easton frowned, looking somewhat displeased. I tried my best to suppress my emotions, handed him the cell phone, and turned away. Alana caught up with me in small steps. At a loss, she said gently, "Giana, it's not what you think..." I impatiently shook off her hand holding my wrist. "Ouch!" A scream came from behind me. When I turned around, Alana's body was halfway outside the railing. I was shocked as I instinctively bent down to grab her. The tremendous force caused my whole body to lean forward. "Splash." Both of us fell into the water. "Alana!" Easton jumped into the sea without hesitation, and he swam towards Alana with all his strength. I gradually lost strength. A large amount of seawater had been poured into my nasal cavity. My body sank heavily towards the depths of the sea.

I had a slight cold, and I could be discharged from the hospital early the next morning. Upon entering the living room, I saw Easton wearing an apron and cooking pumpkin soup in the kitchen. When he turned around and saw me, he was stunned for a moment. Then he said, "I'm sorry about yesterday." I pursed my lips silently, staring at the boiling pumpkin soup in the pot. Pumpkin soup was never my thing. I instantly understood whom he was cooking for. I looked away and asked, "I want to talk to you about something. Are you free tonight?" Easton frowned slightly as if thinking about something. Then he replied after a while, "Yes." I nodded and turned to go upstairs. The night came. I sat in the living room from seven p.m. until half past midnight, but Easton wasn't seen. Just as I was about to go back to my room to go to bed, I heard a noise coming from the entrance. Easton looked tired. He must have rushed back. He said, "I'm sorry to have kept you waiting for so long." I looked up at him and said, 'It's good to have you back.' I handed him the divorce agreement on the table as I spoke. Easton took it over and frowned. From his face, I couldn't tell what he was thinking about. "These days, I have been neglecting you, but I hope you can reconsider the divorce matter more carefully." His voice sounded magnetic. "Look, he talks to me about our divorce in such a casual tone." It was like how he usually got business done with his clients. I suddenly felt a little dizzy. Smiling bitterly, I said, "Easton, you have always been ambiguous to me, making me feel exhausted." Easton silently put the divorce agreement back on the table. Looking somewhat awkward, he opened his mouth several times. In the end, he didn't say a word. I sat on the sofa in frustration, staring at him attentively. It was so quiet in the living room. It was Easton who broke the silence first. "Giana, I can fulfill anything you want,' he said seriously and solemnly, "except for my love." Hearing what he said, I was in so much pain. "So what does everything between him and me mean?" I was silent for a moment before saying lightly, "I want to work at your company." Alana was at his company. I couldn't be the only one who was sad. "Okay." Easton agreed quickly. Then he looked at his watch and said, "I have something to do. I'll leave first." Watching his departing figure, I suddenly felt sad. I had been in love with him for six years. It was at midnight. Suddenly, I had a high fever. My whole body was burning. In the heat, I felt someone touching my forehead with a slightly cool hand. I half-opened my eyes and vaguely saw a white corner of clothing, murmuring, "Easton?" The hand on my forehead trembled slightly. "It's me." I instantly became half awake, struggling to open my eyelids. Then I saw Easton's pale face. "You have a fever," Easton said gently with great concern. He got up. I reached out and grabbed his wrist. I asked, "Where are you going?" Holding mine, with a broad hand, he patiently comforted me and said, "I'm going to call the family doctor." All the grievances that had been building up in my heart burst out at this moment. As tears rolled out of my eyes, I said, "Why do you always do this? "One moment you're aloof and distant like a stranger. The next moment, you're caring for me so much. "I beg you. If you don't like me, please don't give me any hope." Easton helplessly wiped away the tears from the corners of my eyes. Then he said with distress, "I'm sorry. It's all my fault." "I like you. I like you more than anyone else in the world." I cried until I was tired. My head started to ache. Soon I fell asleep again. I feel much better when I wake up the next morning. Looking around the empty room, I felt like what had happened last night was just a dream. My throat was dry. I turned around to get some water to drink. There was a bowl of hot mushroom soup on the table. "Mushroom soup?" The mushroom soup was my favorite. I felt a little confused. It turned out that what had happened last night was not a dream.

After I recovered from the illness, I started working at Easton's company. He assigned me an easy job, placing me far away from his office. Everyone in the company knew my identity and usually kept their distance from me. As his assistant, Alana naturally spent every day with him. I was bored, so I placed a chair by the window. Every day, I could see them going to and from work together. What a happy couple. In the blink of an eye, it was the birthday of Easton's father, Troy. Easton went home and took me up to the mansion of his family. We appeared as a loving couple. Upon getting out of the car, I saw Alana waiting in front of the Lawson family's mansion. From the moment Easton saw her, he had been gazing at her. Troy's birthday banquet was grandly prepared. Many big shots from the business world attended. Easton and I kept talking and toasting to them one by one in the crowd. After a few drinks, I was a little dizzy. After dealing with the distinguished guests, I walked alone to the terrace for some air to sober up. Just as I exhaled, two familiar figures walked towards me. It was Easton and Alana. At the sight of me, they were slightly stunned. Then they walked straight towards me. Alana took a step forward and held my hand, saying with great guilt, "Giana, we let you down." Easton didn't say anything as he watched indifferently from the side. "Easton, I finally found you." A male voice came from behind us. Javion looked at the three of us somewhat awkwardly. He cautiously glanced at Easton, saying, "Giana." For a moment, I couldn't tell whether he was calling me or Alana. I brushed off Alana's hand. Feeling unhappy in my heart, I said, "I'm going back first." I turned around to leave. Javion caught up with me, anxiously saying, "Giana, let me walk you." Easton, who had been silent, suddenly called out to him, "Javion." Javion and I both turned around. He asked, "Do you like her?"

Easton sounded indifferent with his voice devoid of any emotion. Except for him, the three of us present were all stunned by his words. Javion was in a panic, wondering what to do or say. He stuttered for a long time, but he couldn't say a word. Easton suddenly laughed and raised his eyebrows slightly. Then he said, "Then, it's up to what you got." After speaking, he took Alana's hand, pretending not to care. In the end, I didn't know how I got home. I felt like a walking corpse. After that day, Easton and Alana remained close, but he never spoke to me again. Instead, it was Javion who appeared frequently in front of me. He used to address me respectfully. Now he addressed me intimately, trying to be close to me. I found him annoying and always found excuses to send him away. "Giana, Easton is on a business trip today," Javion said meaningfully, adding, "He didn't bring Alana with him this time." How ridiculous it was. I could only find out about my husband's whereabouts from someone else. "This time?" I turned my gaze to him, asking, "What do you want to say?" Javion frowned. With a hint of reluctance on his face, he said, "Everyone in our circle knows that Easton and Alana have been childhood sweethearts. Why can't you let go of yourself and give me a chance?" He spoke it as if I were a mistress. I admitted that I had always liked Easton, but it was him who confessed to me first. I stubbornly raised my right hand and showed off the valuable ring on my ring finger. Sneering repeatedly, I said, "Javion, I am married, and Easton is my legal husband. I hope you can understand this." Seeing that I was unyielding, Javion left my office in frustration. I picked up my cell phone and started to investigate Easton's schedule. It turned out that he was on a business trip to Crotol, which was why he didn't bring Alana with him. Then I dialed the phone number of Easton's assistant and asked about his return date. "Mrs. Lawson, Mr. Lawson will be back next Friday at 9 a.m.," the assistant replied. After thinking for a moment, I said, "Okay, I will pick him up then." The one on the other end seemed to want to say something, but I hung up the phone directly. I sat back in the chair weakly and closed my eyes. Suddenly, I recalled the scene when Easton had confessed to me. Easton was a senior student who was famous on campus. Another famous person was his childhood sweetheart, Alana, a fallen girl from a rich family. Classmates deemed them a perfect match. If I didn't know him, maybe I would think the same as others. The year we graduated from high school, he suddenly came to my house. We stood under a huge tree in the shade. He said to me, "Giana, let's go to the same university." "My school is not bad." Indeed, the Yord University he attended was a dream school for many people. However, based on my scores, I was confident that I could be admitted into Yord University. So I nodded at him. With a guess in my heart, I asked tentatively, "Why do you want me to go to the same university as you so eagerly?" A gust of wind suddenly blew. He took a step forward to shield me. "Because I like you." With the wind, I could smell a burst of fragrance on him. Even though it wasn't hot, my face quietly turned red.

On the day when Easton returned, I was waiting for him at the airport at 8 a.m. Time passed minute by minute, and it was nine p.m. Easton's figure was nowhere to be seen. I looked at my wristwatch to confirm the time, thinking, "Could it be that his flight was delayed?" So I patiently waited for more than ten minutes. When the news of the plane crash came over the radio, my vision went black. A part of me seemed to have been broken. I covered my chest in pain and cried until I fainted. "Easton!" I broke out in a burst of cold sweat and woke up from the bed. Soon, I fell into an embrace with a fragrant scent. "I'm here," he responded warmly. The fragrance made me feel at ease. Tears unconsciously welled up in my eyes as I said, "You're still alive?" "Yes," he gently rubbed my hair, adding, "I changed my flight at the last minute." Looking back now, I felt a lingering fear when I heard the announcement at that time. "It's a good thing you changed your flight. Luckily, you changed your flight!" I cried breathlessly. Easton hugged me tighter at my words. Suddenly, I remembered something important and asked, "When do you plan to leave this time?" His body trembled slightly as if he had made up a mind about something. "I'm not leaving this time." "I will always be with you." The next day at the company, Easton had someone move all my things to his office. "Giana, let's work together from now on." I looked down and saw the sapphire button I had gifted him on the cuff of his suit. I was at ease instantly. "Okay." I tiptoed and kissed his cheek. Easton's face instantly turned red. He clenched his fist and coughed lightly while awkwardly looking away. He looked so cute. I covered my mouth and chuckled. Per the employees, Easton was much gentler after this business trip. Regarding this, I had no comment. Most of the time, he worked quietly at his desk while I sat on the sofa bored. Every time I offered to help him share some of his work, he never let me do more. Occasionally, fearing that I would be bored staying in the office all day, he let me go out for fun. I didn't want to. I insisted on sticking to him. Every evening after work, Easton would cook dinner for me at home. After we finished dinner together, he would go to the study and work until late at night. I couldn't bear to see him work too hard, so I decided to go downstairs and buy lunch for him that day. When I took the elevator to the first floor, I accidentally overheard employees talking about Alana. I stopped and eavesdropped. "Alana hasn't shown up for a while. Isn't she always with Mr. Lawson?" "She went on a long vacation on the day Mr. Lawson came back. Don't you know?" "Mr. Lawson has a wife. Now that they are so loving, she should have given up." Hearing this, I pretended to cough. The gossiping employees dispersed as soon as they saw me. After lunch, he continued working. Easton suddenly exclaimed, "Oh." I got up from the sofa and walked towards him, asking, "What's wrong?" "I left the documents that need to be signed in the study today." He frowned slightly and looked at me pitifully, asking, "Am I stupid?" Surprisingly, he, the high and mighty President of the Lawson Group, would say so. I laughed, saying, "Of course, you're not stupid. Wait, I'll go back and get it for you now." Fearing that he would refuse, I ran out of the office after finishing my words. I finally had a chance to help him. Back home, I walked quickly towards the study. Upon opening a drawer of his desk, I saw two red certificates. It was strange. I remembered that one of the marriage certificates was in my hands. Out of curiosity, I unfolded the two marriage certificates. For a moment, I even felt like I was illiterate. They turned out to be the marriage certificates of Easton and Alana! Holding the two thin red books in my hands, I had mixed feelings. My hands were trembling violently. The marriage certificates slipped from my grasp and fell to the ground. When Easton rushed back, he was prompted with such a scene.
